Ever since I was little I have always had a love and passion for poetry. I never pursued it or participated in anything like this mostly due to fear. However, recently I decided that it was time for me to let go of fear and pursue poetry because it's what I truly love. I've determined that I will not allow myself to be pulled into a state of regularity by following the path that is normally taken by people in the pursuit of careers. I want to do what I love. I promised myself that I would. That is why I am here. I feel like poetry is a dying art. This particularly amazes me because poetry is such a beautiful language. It tells the story of us, of life, love, loss, fear, rejection, and all of the things that make us who we are. Life without poetry isn't living. So to all of you who love poetry as I do, who write it and courageously pursue it, I applaud you and thank you. I thank you for inspiring me to write it and pursue it with you.
