I am a very compassionate person, and on occasion I will sit down and write a poem when I feel moved to do so. I have written poems in the past for my fiance, who is now my husband of 8 years. He still has these poems in his possession. The best time I am inspired to write is during full moon, though I have written poems after the death of cherished loved ones as well. I wrote a poem for my Mother in law a day prior to her funeral. I wasn't sure I would be able to do it, but family members assured me that the poem reflected who "Mom" was and they loved it. I recently lost my dear, beautiful twin sister, Sheila DeCapria. Her passing has forever changed my heart and I look at life very differently now. The poem I wrote and submitted, in her memory, entitled "My Beautiful Twin" was written with the utmost love in my heart for her. After assisting in helping with details and funeral arrangements, I layed down on my bed with a pencil and some paper. Once I wrote the first stanza the rest just fell into place. God gave me the strength to actually stand up front and read this poem at her service. I may add other poems I have written in the near future.
