I rose early in the pale blue morning
Knotted hair, knobby knees,
a puddle of tears and satin sheets
Hollow cheeks against a pillow
Feathers make a nest for my restless mind

I have yet to see her
For i only see her muted face in my sleeping hours
Yet, i will wait for her
To trace my bones with her empty gaze
To hum her tune and stroke my face
Oh, how i wish to be cradled in her black wings
How i wish she would come
How i wish she would sing
Because her voice would bring me somewhere
Colder and darker than here
And i will not mind
I promise, i will not mind
Because i would rather be anywhere
But here.
