beguiled

you are drawn to me
enticed by my radiance
enchanted by my being

in the day, I am divine
my branches unfurled
stretching out to welcome birds of song
my meadows are serene
the sunlight watchful of all my creatures
my rivers are calm
inviting even the shyest of swimmers

in the dark, I am deadly
my forests are maze-like
trapping its victims like mice
my fields are bare
the flowers shrivelled and wilting
my waters are briny
capsizing seamen with tidal wave tears

you are drawn to me
lured into my darkness
captivated by my being
