Cry of Pride

Images of you in my mind engrained
It’s one a.m. restless again.
You took from me a peice of my heart,
The day you were called to depart.

Memories flood of you playing or taking a nap,
courageously you put on a military cap.
Blending like a chameleon,
slithering with the amphibians.

Transformation from civilian to soldier
Solid as the pyramids boulders.
Foreign countries surroundings peculiar.
Swarms of diversity, nothing familiar.

MRE’s from morn to twilight,
changing locations in the moonlight.
can’t unsee what the eyes have seen,
may God keep you whole; clean.

As I watch from afar, you keep our country free.
I stand tall, weeping like the willow tree.
Shaking silently in my knees.
