Days of Summer

From June, July, August, September
Making memories you will forever remember.
The kids are excited because school has let out,
Everyone's looking forward to baseball games, family vacations, barbecued bratwurst and hot dogs topped with sauerkraut.
Visiting grandparents weeks at a time, granny is making a big breakfast of biscuits and gravy ,fried potatoes, bacon and eggs cooked over hard,
You start to get homesick so you write and send mom and dad a beach pictured postcard.
Hop in back of grandpa's pick up truck to get cherry snow cones and vanilla ice cream
Enjoy them on the back porch while watching the lightning bugs gleam.
Curfews are later and mom and dad leave on the porch light
Camping and fishing, finding out what makes the biggest fish bite.
Swimming with friends and family at the community pool
Big beach towel, swimsuit, tank top, flip flops, dressed for the weather hoping to keep cool.
Guys keep a cooler handy of their favorite beer to drink,
While the ladies have their toenails painted bright pink.
Little ones in blue swimming trunks and adorable floral sundresses,
While puppy dogs are sniffing around looking to lick up the BBQ messes.
Falling asleep to the whistle and hum of the old and outdated attic fan,
Feels nice on your sticky skin where you applied aloe to your sunburnt shoulders, hoping it turns into a golden tan.
Fun in the sun where memories are made
Summertime has to end but these memories will never fade.
