Journey through grief

As I gaze out into the pond,
I see my reflection staring back at me. Curious,
I reach out to touch it,
my arm slipping below the surface.
Realizing its depths and what it can do,
I dive in,
immediately feeling the cold water on my face.
I shiver, plunging to the depths below.
It's not just my reflection on the surface after all.
As I submerge into the darkness,
I find my cold lifeless body on the floor below.
I begin the journey upwards,
the burden of the weight dragging me back,
eventually emerging into the warm sunlight.

I
am alive.
