Neither Part Nor Whole

The rain strikes the pavement
Heaven's tears, the sky cries
Falling on the weak and the strong
The poor and the rich
The dead and the living
O what chorus water holds
Droplets seeing what's never told
Endlessness and beginning at the end
They enter wounds that never mend
And healthy flesh that ail pretend
Washes dust off from my feet
And sneaks through where two edges meet.
Water, neither part nor whole.
