Sailor’s Refuge

You were this sailor's last refuge,
In life's dark and stormy sea,
Fighting against the tides of Fate's deceit,
And though this sailor's heart is heavy,
With the weight of all she's seen,
You were her last glimpse at a brief eternity.

This sailor goes to war,
With the rising waves of all your sins,
Your name spelled in the salt caked on her skin,
As her voice is belittled,
By the roars of Fury's wind,
It's your refuge this sailor looks for in the end.

And perhaps this sailor always knew,
You'd let her fall into goodbye,
As those waters pulled her down into the sky,
And I hope this sailor's taught you,
When you gaze out to the tides,
You were this sailor's last refuge... but you lied.
