She Lies There

she lies next to you
a corpse which is blinded by agony
a sad shell of what she used to be
she lies there still
hoping for freedom to ring it’s gallant tune one day
over the screaming at bay
she lies there
unable to sleep
but retreats to her dream
for it’s the only place she can run and actually escape from your flying fists
she lies there
unable to move
unable to cry
for any slight movement
any slight showing of being alive
may acknowledge you to make her regret it
she lies next to you
scarred and scared
of what her demons may bring
of what you may bring
she lays there both eyes open
but dead inside
