Sunday Morning Muse
Loneliness is the key of the tune that paints
hazy pictures in my heart
and just as your words lay them slow to rest
so too, does the absence of
love in your eyes
Your presence used to fill the room
as the cigarette smoke does now
and just as the clock burns it slow to death
so too, does it do justice
to our imminent demise
Time's incessant banter is the carriage
which I drive myself insane
and just as my hands drove you curtly away
so too, do they still hold the reins
So the lazy smoke dissipates
as I weigh my thoughts
and brace for abuse
just as I've frayed you away
so too, have I worn thin
the soul I induce
