The Language of Silence
The Language of Silence is the one
To which all the others have lost
The spirit – its langue and the feelings – parole;
There are very few words it costs:
One, being “love”, another, “pain”
And few others – “longing”, “wish” and “end”.
No one is dumb, or everyone is,
In one way or the other;
It either pulls one closer,
Or draws away farther.
It is silence that speaks a stream of words –
All in the blink of an eye;
It is silence – the heart thus adores
Whenever it has to sigh.
Or, whenever I walk along the shore.
