The Looking Glass

I peer into the looking glass
A model image of my past
It passes by so ever fast
We savor every moment
Wishing life were slowing
In no direction I'm just going

I peer into the looking glass
The man inside so ever sad
His life exceeds but any task
Sadness binds behind his mask

I peer into the looking glass
Now horror beams across his face
His failure I begin to taste
His heart inside is dark and gloomy
The man inside is yours truly

This Poems Story

I wrote this after moving away from home. One of the toughest things anyone can do is sacrifice everything that gives you security. Leaving all of that left me looking in the mirror one morning wondering who exactly I was looking at. The man I am or the man I had become.
