The sky grew alive with color
Blossoms of smoke fell from the clouds
Ash fell from the colors to the frosted grass below
Covered faces bathed in the light

The sinful melodies of fireworks ring through the town
They continue strong into the eye of the moon
The pain behind us trapped in the year behind us
The year behind us trapped in a memory
The memory left behind us

A new start to a new year
A new end to a new disaster
The plagues march on around our country
Only one disease curable by needle

All is momentarily forgotten as the world falls quiet
The fires in the sky burning out and then starting again
All falls quiet as the explosions bring something new
The sky fires bring something long forgotten

With that spark lighting up the sky,
No one would ever see anything brighter
