The human heart is a relic of fleeting history
Raging against the soft pull of oblivion,
Desperately fumbling for permanence
Amid our looming human fragility.

Poetry and lukewarm words to fill empty air:
All this says, "I exist."
Until dusk hooks the sun and drags it down for good,
Engulfing our attempts to be more than a moment.
