As I write late in the evening,
stirring my coffee with a plastic spoon,
I hear a thump
on the window.
Then again....thump.
I look up
and I watch.

The bat is feeding
on mosquitoes
drawn by the porch light.

The damn bat is blind
but he keeps coming back
for more mosquitoes.
The need to feed
clearly outweighs
the concussion
he will have
by morning.
