Tearful smiles in a phone screen as reparations come to pass,

Fragile hearts and brains like glass,

Unstable people smile for the first time in a long time and lose themselves in circumstantial joy,

The ending of this story, so bittersweet and tear-jerking

Lovers who were friends, friends again at the cost of closeness,

A sacrificial ending sprouts a new beginning at the hands of mental collapse,

They lock their hearts down so their hands never clasp,

They retreat to their distant mental palaces,

Walls growing between them like calluses,

And all the ideas that danced through their minds of a gleeful future fade like leaves from dead trees...
