A Battle to Forget

By Vane'

It was a battle to remember
How she hoped that she was dead
And she tried to last to September
But she could not get out of bed

It was a war that never ended
A march without a beat
A broken soul that couldn’t be mended
And life was but a feat

But not all was sad and lost
And she had them to thank
For they came without a cost
And tried to fill in the blank

But as she stared into the embers
And those lines were all but set
She thought of how the battle to remember
Turned into a battle to forget

A battle to remember can so easily turn into a battle to forget
