A Beautiful Accident

Both declared deceased on August thirteen.
My brother by marriage, sister by blood.
How could I begin to process this dream?
I felt a colossal loss as tears flood
The same bright eyes that saw them yesterday.
Two giving lovers, too young to leave earth
Left two lovely girls as they passed away.
One just eight, the other eight months from birth.
I watched as they outgrew their shoes and clothes.
Abby learned to smile, play, and laugh again.
Ellie took her first steps, and so it goes.
I think of them every day, every breath.
And because they left, I found love in death.
