A Biased Self-infliction

Self-infliction is okay
only if that self is not your own.
People love to demolish the egos
of those who own nothing else.
We are taught it's acceptable
to scar our skin with vibrant inks
in the aftermath of
funeral recessions that
do not harbor our names
but we are differentiated when
we scar ourselves
in the process of
Our own dying.
We are so biased
we do not realize that
often times
The less vibrant scars
paint more vivid stories.
