A Break Up

I've never felt so much distance
In a matter of inches
We are worlds apart
I ache for your touch for
Your heart to connect with mine
Every lonely beat incomplete
Unable to match yours
Aching my chest, arms, and skin
I want to rip the flesh away
To reach the veins and the pain
I want to pull the brittle bones
From my fragile body
I let the pain and blood pool
And swallow me whole
How am I supposed to breathe
When you were my life support
You are my very skin and nerves
How do I live without you
I reach out to beg for you
But when I reach it's nothing
But piles of blankets and regrets
Soaked pillows with salty tears
Unchanged sheets to seal in
The smell of your last memory
Set in the mattress and covers
