A Christmas Sonnet

What is this that comes around the corner?
That beckons me to rise and dance and sing?
It almost feels just like the years former,
Yet has a brand new cheerful sort of ring.
The people I meet have regained their smile,
And once more seem to roam the streets with cheer.
It seems they have found life is worth its while,
And are ready to begin the new year.
Once more they gather close to those they love,
And celebrate with their joy and laughter.
It feels as if an angel from above
Has sprinkled warmth all over the winter.
What is this that comes around the corner?
It is Christmas just like the years former.
