A Dangerous Path

He was nineteen I was eighteen
I loved him more than he loved me
and he knew that
It was a dangerous path
I was next to him all summer long
in the back of that bright blue truck of his
He started kissing me I said don't stop
But that's when things got real tough
It was time for college and time for him to leave
That's when I found out what I couldn't believe
I told him the news you're a daddy to be
A baby myself I was just eighteen
I cried and cried
I prayed to Jesus please save my life
He didn't have a job and his car broke down
He told me how to keep the news out of town
So I did what had to be done
We decided not to have a son
He said goodbye after that day
and told me it was the only way
Please don't cry you did the right thing
Didn't you know this was only a summer fling?
He was nineteen I was eighteen
I loved him more than he loved me
and he knew that
I guess it always was a dangerous path
