A Day of Ocean Blue

Once a day of ocean blue
Upon a smiling face
The sunshine on the smiling faces on the beach
Sand in each and every crevice you can find
The joyful screams of delight are the highlights of one's day
Something cherished and held onto by our memories
We thought our memories would be safe within time
Years have passed and the people of that time have aged
A new generation gets to make those memories
Or that is what they thought
On their way with imaginations going wild
The place that their family told them about
Their expectations were high for this place of joy
The anticipation was rampant in their thoughts
They couldn't wait to see this place
Or this is what they thought
The truth was that no more memories will be made there
There was no more ocean blue to play in
The sun didn't shine as bright on their faces
The sand felt fake and sharp upon their feet
This was a moment of heartbreak for the family
The memories were destroyed, while no new ones would be made
If only they hadn't taken advantage of this magical place
