A Day to Remember

The house is a mess,
the kids are screaming,
I'm insane unless,
of course, I'm dreaming.
The wind caught the door,
the door caught the tail
of the cat, who tore
the air with a wail.
The telephone rang
and wouldn't you know,
I fell as I sprang
and fractured my toe.
This is not a dream,
I am wide awake,
and I've had a cry,
the children have baked
a pat-a-cake pie.
They have offered me
a little piece.
Oh yes, I agree...
just a little peace.
