A different world

Am I being selfish by wanting a son or daughter
To bring them to a world that's now lost it's laughter
I know it's not the best for you my daughter
How am I supposed to explain about this slaughter

I was once in a different world
A world where every child was worth
Every child given the opportunity to grow as a pearl
Where they'd grow up to create this swirl

They taught them no competition
Your only competition is your old self
Never compare the roses with wine
They both have their unique shine

A safe heaven where an orphan child
Was the greatest treasure handled with pride
Children are the future you bring them up right
The world becomes a better place before the night

But then I woke up and realised I was dreaming
The wonderful feeling I had started fading
Forget the children,is this the world I want to live in?
Wished to go back to the other world and kept on sleeping
