A Dog’s Perspective

She catnaps in her cushioned pod
one ear attentive to her familiar surroundings,
the other out of touch

one high pitched call
halloo! a hop, skip and a jump
she inhales the fresh air
guided around the urban jungle
she stalks an enemy, perched above her

moving obstacles, passing
not a threat.
Tracks marked by other inmates
pulled along on a chain
once again, imprisoned by a tall stranger

she enters her territory.
