A Dream of Unity

A house divided cannot stand
said a wise man once to repair the land,
yet our nation today is split in two
divided between the red and blue.

Arguments are commonplace
about such topics as religion and race.
Bipartisanship is but a dream
as the opposing sides seethe and scheme.

Political polarization
is rampant throughout the nation,
as the partisan divide
keeps growing far and wide.

Where is the unity
in this land of opportunity?
Can our nation become unified
or do the opposing sides have too much pride?

Despite it all I still believe
that unity we can achieve.
The American Dream does still exist
and so my hopes will still persist.
