A Dying Deer

There is a dying deer on the forest floor
A dying deer with a wolf
With a wolf munching on its raw meaty flesh
A dying deer oozing dark red
Lying exposed with liver, heart, and lungs
The wolf is eating away
Twisting, pulling, ripping, and chewing the tender meat
It rips through layers and layers of protection
Then it starts on the core
The most valuable thing gone with a chop of a strong jaw
There is a dying deer on the forest floor
The forest that it loved so much
There is a wolf feasting on its meat in the forest
The forest that gave it everything
There is a deer on the forest floor
Lying dead and hollow
There was a deer in the vibrant green but the wolf ate through it
