A Footprint

Do you see the path you've left behind?
Did it fade away somehow?
Or did you post a guiding sign
that's being followed, even now?

Did your footprints last a generation?
Were they washed by wind and rain?
Were they set in stone at elevation?
To last? To grow? To gain?

Are they big enough to still be followed?
Were they stamped by yet another?
Did waves of earth leave them swallowed?
Forever shall they be covered?

Did you care to see, who chose to follow?
Did you stop them from the dangers?
In the wind was your voice hollow?
Shut and closed to strangers.

Maybe someone chose to lead,
to help, to guide, to save.
Perhaps their ways are now a seed,
A road they chose to pave.
