A Funny Place

How do you bounce back from hurt of ill use by loved ones
And still "greet one an other with a friendly kiss"
If you don't know for sure that they're really your friends?

What should you do when you can no longer tell family from foe
And whispers, frowns and subtle looks of disgust
Surround you and though you try, you can't see the end?

Those people who are supposed to love and forgive,
They don't always practice what they say
So, you cry and pray but no an swer comes. You're in a funny place.

You're conflicted inside because you know what's right
but you'd rather hide from the hurt coming your way
from those who smile in your face but talk behind your back.

Should you shuck it up to all those times when you fell short
And show them love in spite of, no matter what
And long for the day when from them, you are no longer under attack?

Those people who are supposed to love and forgive
But they don't always practice what they say
So, you cry and pray but no an swer comes. You're in a funny place.
