A Girl of Palestine

They say
We are made of
Mostly water

They say
Our bodies would be
Or maybe even sixty
Percent less
If all the water was gone

If I cried all the water out of my body
Every single drop
It wouldn’t weigh more than one of the goats my brother tends

If I cried all the tears I have in my heart
Every broken life
The ocean would feel small

No one understands
No one really knows
No one can feel except those who have felt
How heavy the world’s tears can be
Except to me.
