A Hanging Leaf

On outstretched branch a leaf is hanging.
To hope his stem is clasping,
And on the wind a voice is singing,
"To the branch I will keep clinging."

How can he stand the power of she?
He cries, "please just let me be!
Let me hang from this tree.
Let me stay attached in glee."

The wind knocks him to and fro.
He refuses to let go.
When all is said and done,
The tree he flies far from.
