A Heart Made of Salicylic Acid

If I stand far enough away,
I can't see You in the mirror.
The edges blurred, the details lost
I look like everyone else
Except I have big ears.

You are not who I am.
But if I stand in the back,
I can lose you for a minute
But then She touches my back,
And it makes the tears start
and You are standing there smiling.
Waiting for me to realise
That You will never leave.

I spent her money,
And his money,
And my money,
Trying to fix me.
Trying to make You go away.
I always try so hard.
It seems like you're not even trying
You just sit there.

Sweaters and concealer can hide most of it.
I'll be here waiting until I can't see You anymore.
