A Heartfelt Thank You

To all the certified nursing assistants that work the floor
I've found first hand it's quite a chore
A day from heck was the day I worked
My back was sore and my feet, boy howdy, did they hurt
Extra large BM's from navel to knees, lord what a mess I had to clean
Call lights lit around the clock someone needing to go to the pot
Lift and twist, bend and stoop what a chore to clean up poop
People to dress and get out of bed
Showers to give and help to those who need fed
As the end of the shift begins to draw near
I think about the day and why we are all here
We are like family to those that are here
We see them smile and at times we bring them cheer
We comfort them when they are sad and when they shed a tear
I applaud you all for the job you do
You sweat, you ache, you keep plugging away
You keep returning day after day
I can't believe that you do it just for the pay
I've seen the way you interact, I've seen you give a pat on the back
I've seen the hugs and I've seen the smiles
I've seen you go the extra mile
A huge heartfelt thank you for all that you do
As the job would not get done without all of you
