A Hero

If this was truly my last goodbye
these tears would never stop, never dry.
They say time will pass, will heal
wounds opened by what Death steals.

Memories shall truly never fade
when to rest you have been laid.
But pain and grief break open wide
a young girls heart buried deep inside.

The guns will echo a sailors farewell salute
who's courage no one shall dare dispute,
As a flag draped coffin is lowered down
the bugle will ring its hollow sound.

A harmony to remember a hero gone
but never lost as the days pass on.
A hero lived on in glorious memories
of those who had a chance to "Make a memory"
