A Kipling Inspiration

The glowering mischief of politics
The random acts of men
The truth so far forgiving
Let us speak of it again
Not fearing retribution
But with boldness we hold forth
Accomplishing what is needed
In that we find our worth
No more to fear the 'morrow
Nor be broken by our bearing
The waning, wasting tide
For courage builds the fortress
Within which we abide.
