A Letter To Those Who Have Lost

Dear Loser,
This Letter is being written by someone who has lost
More than few and less than most
To the seniors who lost the best three months
Of twelve years of their life
I’m sorry. I don’t know about loss like that
At sixteen I thought I would be worrying
About what to wear to prom
But instead I’m worrying about my dad,
The cancer and stroke survivor,
The one with the shot immune system,
I do know about loss like that
To the families who have lost a loved one to the virus
That we let spread too long before trying to stop it
I’m sorry. I don't know about loss like that
I miss my cousins,
Who I usually see several times a month
At least they’re still around to see
I miss my friends,
Who I usually see several times a week
At least they’re still around to see
I miss my life,
The jury is out on if its still around to see
To those who have lost, I’m sorry. Losing isn’t fun
I do know about my loss
I don’t know about your loss. I’m sorry anyway
