A Lifetime

A solid, feasible emotion;

One that you could touch and feel with your own hands,
shaping it like clay into the perfect memory -

Not quite accurate, but better to remember it that way.

That feeling with the windows rolled down going 80 on the freeway,
The freeway that you had traveled so many times but never so freely,

The synthetic new car smell mixed with the earthy evening wind,

The stereo blaring the song you found one night so many years ago -
the one you played like a backtrack in your mind.

The track that mixed with the rush of wind
until your entire world was splayed out in front of you

In a flash

Of orange, pink, purple sunset.
