A Light

The gray mist touches down
Surrounding this moment
Without invitation.

No thought or movement
Can change the message
Piercing my core.

An uncertain tomorrow waits
Damp shadows now embrace
This emptiness.

A pathway to heaven changed
Ruled by ice and wind
Never tasting sugar.

But as steps are taken
Toward an obscure light
On a field of white.

I promise to remember
When you touched my heart
That candle still burns.

The light is here.
