A Little Light
Swimming in a lake of emptiness
Trying to make a name for yourself
Hoping, wanting to be noticed
A speck in a vast, endless ocean; useless
All around you,
People stronger and smarter, faster and taller,
And you will never be like them
You are a bird without wings
But you don’t need to be like them
Through the depths of despair shines
A little light, almost invisible
But it is always there
Because You Matter
Without you the ocean would be one drop smaller
Without you the earth would turn just a little slower
Without you nothing would be the same
You may be a grain of sand throughout a desert
But you can help others
And your influence could move mountains
Because without you
The world would be a worse place.
