A Live Coal In The Sea

I walked one day down a quiet way
To see what I would find
Each step I took with a steady look
Ahead and not behind

The fading light rushed a dawning night;
I hastened my advance
To fill my scars with the million stars
Of heaven's great expanse

My mind was lulled, and my senses dulled
As onward I was led
I didn't know where my feet would go
But onward still I tread

And then, by chance, in a passing glance
I caught your steady eyes
You joined my coup, as we both sought to
Obtain the open skies

Arise, awake! Let your spirit quake!
Suffuse your soul with glee
Shake off the scum and you'll soon become
A live coal in the sea
