A Lone Walk on a Summer’s Day

A lone walk on a summer's day
I met a man along the way

His hounds and he that made three
To sit near a small oak tree

As he walked to greet me
His eyes I could not see

Broken bones upon this man
And still he reached to take my hand

I learned his name and he mine
The walk he joined just one time

He talked so bold of things I did not know
As he used his words he reached to touch me with his soul

The hounds they circled to and fro
For their master full of woe

We walked the road's edge of sand and stone
Until we reached his mother's home

A lone walk on a summer's day
Where strangers find their way
