A Look In The Mirror

never underestimate the power of your
illusions of resistance.
cowering in the deep, dark recesses
of your fragile,
lethargic heart
exists the longing to
manipulate and destroy
anyone who attempts to get too close, to
revel in the confusion and pain that
is so evident in the
eyes of those whose
hearts you throw by the wayside.
oh, how you delight in their
loss of trust in true
love's existence. for now they
identify with the pain you have tried for so long to
dampen and deny. they know the depth of the
anguish of unrequited love.
yes, you finally have control.
