A Lost Friendship

Disconnected phone calls and locked doors
leaving a message that I will one day want no more.

Multiple alarms set at different times
all ringing the sound of unknown lies.

Forced hellos and forced goodbyes
controlling the pain from fading allies.

Given assignments and forgotten gifts,
the unappreciated behavior makes no shift.

Silent car rides to useless gossip
due to desiring the mutual care that holds me hostage.

Harsh language turning from jokes to shots
targeting weaknesses so voices are caught.

Keeping secrets filled with worthless tin
constantly judging innocence vs. oblivion.

Pressured advice and unwanted interventions
all due to hidden concerning intentions.

Genuine laughter and genuine jealousy
creates the mix of the stolen key.

Coming together again: a worthy try,
but for now I will write,
write and cry.
