A Lost Key

Noble soldiers fight to penetrate my walls
The impending heartbreak loiters in my halls

I unknowingly make my bricks stronger
Soldiers fight me; each battle is longer

Blackened shutters on the windows of my heart
Happiness is kept out; my sadness is my art

The attic of my mind has never been unlocked
I keep the key hidden; my king has knocked

An excellent hiding place; the key cannot be found
My king gives up; and leaves my battleground
