A Love Lost

I feel so alarmingly numb.
Is this daunting feeling back that I thought I had overcome?
I stare at the wall, my thoughts empty and bleak.
My heart wants to talk, but my mouth won't speak.
You're just a muscle that pumps blood though my veins.
Yet you have my mind and my body shackled in chains.
He loved me once, but that was long ago.
My heart doesn't understand that he now considers me a foe.
Love can't tell time, or how it's been years since we've spoken.
Now he makes her heart smile; mine remains broken.
