A Lover’s Mentality

If you knew the struggle
Of a changed soul
Like a piece of a puzzle
Stuck on feelings of old

A futile swim to shore
In a sea that expands
But a reason to fight, fueling my core
In search of a chance

But your light shines through it all
With hair like strands of golden silk
I climb, though I am bound to fall
My fall is hard yet you seek to bilk

I will find my path to you
This is clear to me
I will take root
To be your giving tree

This Poems Story

My father raised me to always be kind, sweet, and romantic to women. I grew up watching him bring home roses and random presents for my mom. Because of this, I've always considered myself to be somewhat of a romantic, but I've known the pain of loves lost, as well as the beauty that comes with loving another.
