A Lover’s Question

A Lover's Question

The sun when rising mixes with the sea
And that resulting vapour with the cloud,
The rain is with the seeds that flowers then be,
On which the bees when making honey crowd.
Or clasp the roots the ground, and with the rain
They mix, so full a tree in blossom grows,
A breeze and sunlight kiss the leaves and gain
Them fruit, and birds can sing ease disclose.
Look, nothing in the world divine is single,
But things by nature meet and mix and kiss,
And greatest thing is Man, when God did mingle
Them well, so be much better this and bliss.
So what are all these clasps and mixings worth
If I not with you mix and kiss with mirth?
