A Man I Never Knew

the worms have taken a man I never knew
the pink Gluttons find flesh
the ivy chains twine bone

His soul rests
a home of Fragile Calcium and Wet Decay
His story does not

Aunt to Uncle
Mother to Father
and resting on my Ears

a Man You Did Not Know
is Resting with the Worms
and you Need to be more like Him

Strong
Respectful
as much a Tall Tale as a Man

later
I would come to know the Simple Truth
Stories are not Men
